Core Beliefs
FBC Groesbeck affirms The Baptist Faith & Message 2000 as our statement of faith. Below is a short summary of those beliefs.
God
There is only one true and living God who is the Creator and Ruler of the universe and who eternally exists as Three-in-One: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This belief leads us to genuine worship and passionate expressions of praise.
Bible
The Bible is true, inerrant, authoritative, and sufficient. It is God’s Word to us. We base all we believe and do on what God has said in the Bible.
Jesus
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, sinless yet a sacrifice for our sins on the cross, who then physically rose from the grave on the third day to defeat sin and death forever, and who is coming back one day to establish His Kingdom fully and finally here on a renewed earth.
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is fully God and indwells every Christian from the moment of salvation to empower, teach, guide, and gift them for service.
Mankind
Mankind is the special creation of God, made in His own image; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love. God created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. Men and women have tremendous potential for good but are marred from birth and by choice by sin. Only the grace of God can bring them into His holy fellowship and enable them to fulfill the creative purpose of God.
Salvation
Eternal salvation is God’s free gift through the death and resurrection of Jesus, which is the only way to be saved from sin’s penalty—but a person must repent of their sins and place faith in Christ alone in order to receive this eternal life.
The Church
The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church has Christ as its head, is led by biblically qualified pastors, served by deacons, and self-governed by its members.
Family
We believe the family as God designed it is good and should be upheld. With much grace, we pursue sexual purity and fidelity within marriage, which the Bible defines to be one biological man and one biological woman together pursuing the glory of God through their union. We also believe that the home is God’s primary means of disciple-making, with the church as a supplement and a training ground.
