LIFE
We seek to be a place where people experience abundant life
in Christ—where the lost find new life in Christ and believers grow and mature
as they worship and walk with Jesus.
We also strive to be a place where disciples are equipped
to make disciples. Titus 2 shows a discipleship culture within the church as
older and younger men and women disciple one another through sound teaching.
Discipleship is critical to thriving churches. God designed our faith to grow
in Christian community. Discipleship is helping each other know and follow
Jesus more.
At FBC Groesbeck, three core layers of
discipleship help individuals experience abundant life in Christ. The first
layer is Sunday morning worship services as we gather together as a church
family to worship God through singing, prayer, giving, and hearing from God’s
Word.
The second layer is
our Sunday morning Life Groups, which are small group Bible studies for
children and adults where you can grow and flourish as a believer regardless of
how long you’ve been a Christian. God designed the Christian life to be built
in community. In these groups, we study God’s word together, encourage one
another, pray, and help each other follow Jesus. As you walk through the highs
and lows of life, your life group is there to walk through it with you.
The third layer is
discipleship groups of 3-5 people who meet weekly to discuss their personal
Bible reading, memorize Scripture, pray for one another, and hold one another
accountable.
FAMILY
We seek to be a place where physical and spiritual families
flourish. When Jesus saves us, he adopts us into a spiritual family with
brothers and sisters in Christ. According to the Bible, spiritual family is a
stronger bond than physical family. Families care for, support and are
committed to one another. In the church, men and women from all ages and stages
become a spiritual family—Christians of different backgrounds finding common
identity in Christ, as they lay down preferences and work together on mission.
In the church, Christians experience and express genuine
gospel community as we love, care for, and encourage one another to walk with
Christ. Relationships are prioritized and each member uses his/her gifts to
serve.
Additionally, we want to be a place where physical families
thrive. Our world suffers from a lack of healthy, thriving families who know
and follow Christ. We aim to engage children with the gospel, see teens walk
closely with Jesus, and equip parents and grandparents to lead and disciple in
the home. We pray for God save and restore struggling marriages and families.
Building thriving families is a whole-church investment,
with every member giving and serving and praying and mentoring. We need members
to jump in and serve in our children’s and youth ministries. We need members to
come alongside and encourage younger couples and families. We need the whole
family serving and pulling together.
MISSION
We are the family of God on the mission of God. We
encourage every member to live out their faith as a missionary to their family,
work, community, and spheres of influence. As a church we pray for the gospel
to go forth in power; we give financially to support the work of missions in
our community and around the world to start new churches; and we participate in
mission trips and engage our local community to bring the life-giving salvation
of Jesus to our neighbors.
In our community, we have quarterly GO Days, where we go
door-to-door in our community to invite people to church, offer to pray for
their needs, and present the good news of salvation. We also have missions
partnerships in South Texas and Colorado to see the gospel expand through the
planting of new churches.
